No matter the problem or issue in your business or life for that matter, there are no excuses on the road to success. No matter how big the hurdle or wall in your way, there is always a way over or around. You have to figure it out. I believe God gave us all the gift of being creators. We have the ability using our thoughts to create the life we want and he wants for us. We must have positive thoughts and be happy to achieve our own definition of success. Albert Einstein stated it best with “stay away from negative people. They have a problem for every solution.”
Take the story of Roger Bannister, most of us are familiar with, trying to break the world record of a 4 minute mile. In the 1940s, the record was set at 4:01. Doctors and scientists at the time thought the human body could not run fast enough to run a mile in under 4 minutes. As a matter of fact, medical publications stated the human body could not survive that rate of speed and consequences could be fatal. It was thought insane to even try, therefore most runners never pushed the envelope. But on May 6th, 1954, on a windy wet day Roger Bannister recorded a mile run in 3:59.4 minutes crossing the finish line and collapsed with exhaustion.
The real significance came in the next 46 days when 3 more men eclipsed the 4 minute mile. Today it is estimated well over 100 people have ran the mile in under 4 minutes with a current world record at 3:43.13 held by Hicham El Guerrouj. The significance of the Roger Bannister story is really about one man who believed the impossible was possible. Once that glass ceiling was broken others realized the impossible was possible.
All it takes is belief that the impossible is possible to clear a hurdle or conquer a wall. Nearly every obstacle lives in our minds. All it takes is a belief that anything is possible, you must figure it out.
“While the difficult takes time, the impossible just takes a little longer.”—Art E Berg
